Long-time Industry Veteran Passes Away

February 25, 2010

Doloris Hunt, a life-long veteran of the title insurance industry, passed away at the age of 78 on Feb. 17.

Hunt retired from Louisville Title Co. in Toledo, Ohio, after serving 49 years as vice president. She started with the company as a file clerk and quickly learned how to examine titles and research legal problems, which lead her to become a title officer. During her time at Louisville Title, she compiled three training manuals regarding title examinations. She also was a trustee of the Ohio Land Title Association

“I worked for Louisville Title on and off from 1973 to 1991 where Doloris was vice president,” said Kathaleen Santry. “It was quite an accomplishment for a woman back then to become such an important part of a company.”

According to an article that appeared in the 1982 OLTA Title Topics newsletter, Hunt loved to travel and had visited all 50 states and most of the Canadian provinces. One of her hobbies was “collecting elephants” of different materials from her places of travel.
