Underwriter Names National Underwriting Counsel

WFG National Title Insurance Co. announced it named Steven Winkler as its chief underwriting counsel. The long-time industry attorney will also serve as corporate secretary for WFG National Title and its parent, Williston Financial Group.

As chief underwriting counsel, Winkler will be responsible for title insurance underwriting for all members of the Williston Financial Group family of companies, including WFG National Title and New Millennium Title Group. He will also be charged with developing underwriting resources and training for the company, its clients and partners. Winkler will further manage all reinsurance relationships, and serve as a resource in regulatory and compliance matters.

Winkler has served the title insurance industry in a variety of legal and management positions for 38 years. He was most recently Corporate Underwriting Counsel for a large, national underwriter. Winkler is a member of the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, where he serves as an Emeritus Member, Executive Committee of the Real Property Section, and as a Member of the Committee on Unauthorized Practice of Law. Winkler is additionally a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. He received his B.A. from Union College, Schenectady, New York, and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
