E-recording Expands in Michigan, Tennessee, Carolinas

July 22, 2014

The ability to electronically record documents recently expanded in Michigan, North Carolina and South Carolina, two e-recording service providers announced.

Document recordings in Catawba and Nash counties in North Carolina can now be processed electronically through Simplifile.

With the addition of Catawba and Nash counties, North Carolina now has a total of 31 e-recording counties that have adopted Simplifile’s e-recording service, joining more than 1,100 recording jurisdictions nationwide that e-record with Simplifile.

E-recording is also now available in Grundy County, Tenn., Simplifile.

“I am a firm believer that as a public servant, we should strive daily to make the office of Register of Deeds the best that it can be, for the land owners and those that represent them. I see e-recording as the ‘next big thing’ in improving recording in Grundy County,” said Grundy County Register of Deeds Gayle Vanhooser.

Grundy County is the 21st Tennessee e-recording county to adopt Simplifile’s e-recording service.

Meanwhile, Jackson County, Mich., and Berkeley County, S.C., now accept e-recordings through Corporation Service Company. Existing CSC customers can access the county’s available document types and required fields using CSC’s submitter bulletins.

With e-recording available, recording customers such as title companies, banks, and attorneys can avoid sending documents by mail and have the ability to electronically scan, upload, submit documents to the county for recording in minutes. E-recorded documents also results in less overall paper waste and mailing expenses for the counties and their customers.
