Tennessee Title Services Closes First RON Transaction in Volunteer State

April 25, 2019

Tennessee Title Services partnered with Notarize to complete the first remote online notarization closing of a transaction in Tennessee.

By using RON, Tennessee Title Services was able to facilitate the all-cash transaction with a buyer who was in Chicago, a seller in Nashville, Tenn., and a notary in Virginia. The title company has handled more than a dozen RON transactions since closing the transaction in May 2018 and has committed to closing more than 50 over the next year.

“We are solution-driven and strive to provide “ease of use” options for our clients. It’s our belief online closings will be a great resource for those busy individuals and families and for those who find it extremely efficient to close on their schedule,” said Josh Terry, partner at Tennessee Title Services. “It is certainly not a one size fits all, but we are seeing a progression towards this now and believe it will become widely popular over the next couple of years.”

Ryan MacInnis, Notarize’s director of marketing said life happens outside of the 9-5 window of a traditional closing, and the businesses that can offer a tech-forward experience that favors consumers will win.

“After all, 99 percent of homebuyers are searching for their homes online, yet only 1 percent close the same way,” he added.
