SBA Develops Free Platform for Women Entrepreneurs

January 14, 2021

The Small Business Administration (SBA) has unveiled an interactive digital platform packed with resources women business owners need to set and achieve their business goals.

Called Ascent, the program is designed for the “missing middle” — growth-oriented women entrepreneurs who are beyond the start-up phase and already generating revenue yet looking to grow and scale. Most learning resources for business owners focus on either start-ups or mature businesses.

SBA’s Ascent platform provides research-backed tips and strategies. Within Ascent, women entrepreneurs can examine both internal (strengths and weaknesses) and external factors (opportunities and threats) that may have arisen because of COVID-19 to develop a comprehensive recovery strategy.

According to the SBA, Women own or co-own 45 percent of all businesses in the United States. These businesses represent all types of industries and are owned by all types of women. Females comprise more than 70 percent of the workforce in the title and settlement industry.
