OLTA Launches Academy

August 10, 2021

The Ohio Land Title Association (OLTA) recently launched its OLTA Academy to provide greater training opportunities and boost general knowledge of the industry. The mission of the academy is to:

  • Make standardized professional title training easily accessible.
  • Certify comprehension and create a universal measure of proficiency.
  • Improve the title industry by increasing understanding, consistency and confidence for business owners and title professionals.

Led by Academy Chair Jonathan Holfinger and Academy Director Monica Russell, along with a host of volunteers, the academy consists of three certifications with multiple online courses, corresponding certification guide and tests after every course. Those who complete the certifications will receive a certificate and be formally recognized at OLTA events. The certifications include:

  • Escrow Settlement (16 hours of video, 22 tests, 17 presenters, approximately 18 hours to complete) $695 for members, $895 for non-members
  • Title Clearing (Nine hours of video, nine tests, 11 presenters, approximately 10 hours to complete) $495 for members, $695 for non-members
  • Notary Closer (Six hours of video, 10 tests, nine presenters, approximately seven hours to complete) $295 for members, $495 for non-members

“The OLTA Academy has been a multi-year project with help from many of our industry’s best,” said OLTA President Dione Joseph. “This unique training program will raise the bar for the title industry in relation to both knowledge and professionalism.”
